Well, it was inevitable. After my engagement shoot, I have been so busy between working on those photographs and work, that I have neglected my Project 365. However, I am going to catch up. Sure, I might break a couple of rules, but at least I am going to make sure I have 365 photos taken in the next 365 days on my site. It will all average out in the end! So, here are two photographs that I took tonight of Spruce Run Reservoir near Clinton, NJ. I happen to pass it every day to and from work.
After a long day at work, I didn’t really think I was going to get a picture in today. Luckily, I wanted to update my facebook timeline cover photo and wanted to try something new. It meant I needed a self portrait. So, like anyone else, I took my self portrait in the bathroom mirror. The result is below. The real result in on my facebook page which you should check out and “like”.
I had two things I wanted to accomplish today: buying a 12 pack of 22 oz. Southern Tier “choklat” Imperial Stout and using a snoot with my off camera flash. Luckily, I accomplished both. I tried to darken the background as much as possible, so I shot at ISO 100, max flash sync and around F/11. I then set my flash power at 1/1 and placed it almost directly overhead of the stout. After a little fiddling around, this is the shot I got:
Well, today was an extremely busy day: gym, grocery shopping, helping my church with their website, buying my daughter’s first bike, meeting a couple about engagement photos, cooking & cleaning up dinner. I don’t know if I have any more time or energy to work on putting together some fancy project for tonight. So, I will use a photograph I took today of my daughter trying to ride her very first bicycle.
I have to thank my amazing wife for helping me with this project tonight. I was trying to take a photograph of a martini with the olive, but clear vodka just didn’t really do anything for me. That is when Ashley suggested I make a Manhattan. So I did. I couldn’t pick which photograph I liked more, so I am presenting two for Day 4. I did some minor work in Photoshop, but not much. I did look up the Maker’s Mark logo, because that is the bourbon I used, and I wanted to create a feeling of an advertisement in a magazine. Let me know what you think!
